Mexico to Free Cartel Smuggler 'Ruler of the Pacific' Avila Beltran

WNO-MEXICO CITY — An imprisoned Mexican drug bootlegger known as the "Ruler of the Pacific" is to be discharged after halfway finishing a five-year sentence on government evasion charges, the lawyer general's office said on Saturday.

A government judge in Mexico's western Jalisco state acknowledged the bid of Sandra Avila Beltran and requested her prompt discharge, saying her five-year sentence was focused around the same wrongdoing that activated past spells in a correctional facility. Avila Beltran, the most astounding profile lady connected to Mexico's medication exchange, was relied upon to be set free later on Saturday, a government security official said on state of secrecy.

Avila Beltran was sentenced to an about six-year jail term in the United States before being removed to Mexico in 2013 to face government evasion charges. Her imprisonment in both Mexico and the United States originated from charges that she gave cash to previous Colombian medication ruler Juan Diego Espinosa to help him dodge capture. In 2014, she was sentenced to the five-year jail term in Mexico.
